London.... our fist stop on the honeymoon

What does a person say about London? I think that either you like or you don't. I would have to say that out of all the places I have traveled to London has been my least favorite. It is a beautiful city and there is so much old history to see. While in London we did the typical touristy things. A few of my favorites.... We got to go in the worlds largest ferris wheel, the London Eye. Oh my goodness, that was scary, amazing and breathtaking. We went a little later so the sun was setting and the view of London.... what words could ever describe! By the way, I cannot tell you how high in the sky we were! WOW, a must do in London. We went to the top of St. Pauls Cathedral. The climb was a big one and it was a narrow passage but we made it and it was worth every bit of it. I sat in my first ever Catholic service while in St. Pauls and we got to partake in communion. What a cool experience, I loved it. By the time we arrived at the Westminster Abby they were closing for tourists.... But when you have a will, you have a way... We decided to go to the service. That was so incredible!!! We got to sit in these big giant chairs at the front of the church. The prime minister of Australia was there... wow and he spoke and sat right across the isle from us. I have to be honest, the jet leg was killing me and it was all I could do to not fall asleep! I made it with a few shoves from my husband. One of our favorite lines from London was "mind the gap".... That became so annoying! Every subway, bus stop, and train, a voice said "please mmmmmiiiiiinnnnndddd the gappppp"! It is such a big deal that at all the gift shops they sell "mind the gap" hats, magnets, playing cards, post cards, even boxers!! While in London we had front row seats to "Stomp", a MUST SEE show in London. We also had great seats to "Phantom of the Opera". I am sorry to those who love Phantom (honey) but I just didn't care for it! Sorry, but it was fun anyways, my new hubby loved it and that is all that mattered! Our my favorite nights was when we went for dinner at a cafe in Soho District, where all the famous people go. That was so cool.

This is me in the Soho District, don't I look so European?

This is Amador and I in Trafalgar Squre. This night was one of my favorites. Our first hotel was in the suburb of London and than we got smart and got a new hotel right in downtown London. Our hotel veranda looked out to this square. On our last night there we spent most of the evening hanging out in the square. There were fountains, steps, buildings and statues with lots of people around. We love to do people watching so we spent the evening just watching, talking and laughing. I would have to say it is one of my favorite memories with my new husbad.... I LOVED it!

This is us at yet another cute little cafe. Did I tell you that I really liked the cafes. I just really think that there is something romantically cozy about being at a cafe with my husband. They have such a warm, soft, calming atmosphere. The food in London was not our favorite (now the food in Italy is a whole other story). This was Amadors first time to venture to another country so there was A LOT of adjusting to do! The first day or two was tough but than you just learn to laugh it off. Traveling to another country is really an amazing experience. We are spoiled Americans that think we deserve to have it our way! By the way, they just don't care about what you need! I think that next time we travel to London, I would choose to stay in a small village outside the city and than travel into the city for some site seeing. I think I would have enjoyed a cozy cottage atmosphere a little better.

My husband loved the bobbies. This picture was taken outside of the Buckingham Palace. I was kind of surprised of the Palace. I think the gates were more exquisite than the building itself. Nothing too special about the palace. Amador was so excited to have a picture taken with the bobbies. They were very friendly. I especially like the little hats that they had plopped on top of their heads. We were not lucky enough to see the queen while we were there. We did see them do a change of guards outside the palace. That was pretty cool to watch. I am sure these bobbies get so sick of Americans wanting to have their pictures taken with them, they were good sports!

These guys wear funny hats! This man scared the ever loving tar out of me. These men stand guard (what he was standing guard over I will never know) and you can just walk up to them and pose to take a picture. Ok, well, they arent posing but all the stupid tourists are posing. First I took a picture of Amador and than it was my turn to strike a pose. I walk up next to him and just as I stand there the door behind us opens a little and the man next to me yells out extremely loud (what he yelled I do not know) but I tell you what it scared me to death. Notice the dumb look on my face, I thought he was yelling at me. They are not allowed to talk to people or make eye contact, they just look straight ahead. You are not suppose to touch them just stand next to them. I did not take anymore pictures next to these guys. Look at his sword.... don't mess with him!

This was Big Ben at night. Isn't that a gorgeous picture. This is one of my favorite pictures. It is so beautiful. We took this picture while we were on the London Eye. Big Ben was so entirely magnificent from this view, the sun was setting, it was breathe taking. We expected a lot of rain and maybe even snow while were in London. God blessed us with such nice weather. It was a little chilly in London but we had our winter coats and it was just right with our coats. I think it may have drizzled a little bit one night but no down pour and no snow. For the most part it was just a small chill. I bought a scarf and it seemed to be just right. My husband made fun of my scarf the whole time and said "You look so European". Americans do wear scarves my dear man.

This is my husband in the small tunnel I had mentioned in our climb to the top of St. Pauls Cathedral. My goodness this was a tight squeeze. I think that a few times I nearly had a heart attack it was so tight. The tight squeeze and long hike up were worth every ounce of what the view from up above was. It was so surreal. The churches in Europe are so breathtaking and stunning. You can sit for hours and be taken away by the beauty of these buildings!

This is St. Pauls Cathedral. My goodness this building was magnificient. I thought this was one of the most amazing churches that we saw. We walked thru the entire church and even went down into the basement where many saints have been laid to rest. It was incredible. I cant imagine attending church in the breathtaking church every Sunday. We just don't have churches in America like these ones. So much detail and art work! Words just cant describe...

This is my husband and I posing outside the WestminsterAbbey. By the way, we became extremely talented at taking our own pictures. This was amazing... On the outside of the building they had statues of the ten greatest Christian martyers of all time. My husband was very impressed that Martin Luther King Jr. had been added to the statues. Pretty cool. We didnt really get to tour the church since we squeezed in on a service and the church was "closed" to tourists. Wow, this church in incredibly HUGE! I just cant even imagine attending church everyday in a service like this church! We just dont have churches in America like this!

My husband is thinking.... "WHY is my wife taking another picture of me.... in a taxi of all places... the taxi man is waiting for you honey...." The taxi cars in London were so cute. I don't know why in the world I didnt get a picture of one. They are just like the cars that people drove in during the 50's in London. They are so cool. Overall, London was a beautiful city to travel to. I am not too sure that I would stay in London again but I am very happy that it was part of our honeymoon. We had a great time. Off to Rome we go. Watch for the update!
